2010 Estate Zinfandel Santa Clara Valley Jason Stephens Winery

Jason-Stephens Estate Zinfandel is bringing fun back to Zin. Although our goal is to make the best possible wine in each of our wines with this Zin we strive to also make it unique and enjoyable. We feel this Zinfandel swings away from what is now California?s more typical raisin styled flavors. Instead we have bright red fruits, acidity, and tannins all with a kiss of sweetness.

Blueberry, grapeseed, leather, cigar box and concentrated lavender combine for an elegantly intriguing nose on this bottling from a winery between Morgan Hill and Gilroy. The palate is fresh and rather light, with plums, figs, crushed peppercorns and a forest floor/pine needle intrigue. — Matt Kettmann
